Face models are usually photographed to promote make-up, cosmetics and perfume products. It's called "Face Modelling" because the focus is on the model`s face, unlike fashion photos where the focus is on the body.

Face Modelling
Becoming a Face Model is the one way to enter the modelling world for beautiful girls who are not tall or skinny enough to fit the tough modelling standards. For example, girls with relatively short legs who are unable to model on a catwalk or runway but face modeling could definitely an option for a model with the right 'look'. Face models obviously need to have very beautiful and appealing faces, facial skin, necks and shoulders.
What is a beautiful face? First and foremost: healthy and smooth skin. Today, since it is possible to fix almost every flaw by using Photoshop technology on the computer, a tiny pimple will not deter a model from her career. BUT a full-blown case of acne or scars will simply not permit her to work as a face model. Also facial proportions are very important: For instance, the space between the eyes, size and placement of features, cheekbones and the shape of the scalp are all critical factors.
Although the modelling industry does offer a way for relatively short women to find a niche by becoming a face model, most of the really successful models are, nonetheless, tall and slender. This is especially true in smaller countries where there isn't enough work for a lot of models. However, there are some examples of very successful face models that are the lead 'house models' for huge and famous cosmetics and perfume companies although their height doesn't exceed 5'8'' or 173cm.
So, if you are beautiful but short, don't be discouraged. Go to a modelling agency and find out if you have what it takes to become a face model. And of course while face modelling is open to short models it's also open to medium height and super tall models too.
So no matter what you're body proportions, if you were blessed with a beautiful face, it's highly likely you'll make it as a face model.
