Modelling Agencies
The modelling agency is the connection between models and the modelling world (advertisers, photographers, clients and so on). It is the job of the agency to market the model and to make sure she is working. The agency is paid according to the contracts the model signs and they earn a percentage of each models wages. In other words, when the model works and earns good wages, the modelling agency prospers.

The modelling agency consists of the manager and staff. The staff members form the connection between the model and the clients. It is the agency's job or duty to market the model and supervise his or her career all the way till she reaches the top runways and biggest fashion magazines.

The modelling agency organizes the auditions and decides which model will appear at which audition. The people working at the model agencies are highly experienced marketing people whose expertise and close supervision of the model's career is second to none. They make sure the models look their best at all times, including diet and all things pertaining to style. The model agency has to make sure her models have the best chance to succeed in each audition. Also, there are scouts that work for every model agency, perusing the shopping centers and various entertainment spots, always on the lookout for potential models.

There are many modelling agencies in the world. Some of them are large and famous whilst others are small and more anonymous. The larger, well-known agencies are the ones that usually work on the huge campaigns for famous advertising companies. Their models are the leaders of those campaigns. To be considered into the books of these modelling agencies, a model must be really top-notch, since the acceptance level or criteria  is incredibly high. The only downside of being a model for one of the really famous model agencies is that they are constantly marketing their most famous models that have the highest earning potential. Models that are just starting out in the industry are not generally on their agenda when it comes to marketing opportunities for the more important campaigns. That is the case unless; the beginner model is sufficiently impressive to have been 'marked' as the next big face in the advertising world.

As mentioned, there are also smaller modelling agencies that are more accessible. At those agencies there is even the chance that the model manager will be the contact person and that the working relationship will be more personal. The only problem with those agencies is their ability to only attract smaller contracts. It is very difficult to know whether an obscure model agency is serious enough for you. Before signing on with any agency, search the Internet and get all the information needed.
