Model's Guide:
How do you set out into the modelling industry? How do you know if you even have a chance to succeed as a model? How do you become associated with a modelling agency? What do you need in order to learn how to make your way on the catwalk with confidence and grace?. All these questions, and more, are answered in the models beginners guide.

Perhaps you've decided to cash in on your good looks or maybe you're hoping to actually make a career out of them. In any case, welcome to the glamorous world of modelling! Just remember, it's not always easy and every model needs at least a little guidance. To this purpose we've organised this guide for beginner models: Everything you wanted to know about modelling, but didn't know who to ask.

First of all, let's see if you've got what it takes to be a model: Model Agencies have set guidelines for acceptance, including weight, height, body proportions and certain facial features. Men need to be at least 1.80 meters tall and should be muscular, while women should have a curvaceous body and be at least 1.70 meters tall.

If you fit the bill so far, your first step as a model will be to enroll with a modelling agency. The agency is your connection to the world of show-biz (advertisers, photographers, clients, etc.). The agency's job is to market its models and to make sure they are working as much as possible. It is virtually impossible to work as a model without being affiliated with a model agency or a professional audition agency.

In order to enroll with an agency, it's worth your while to spend a little time on the Internet: check out the various agencies available. Make sure the model agency you choose is reputable and well-known in the world of modelling. Once you've chosen the modelling agency, send photos of yourself, both full-length and face. If you happen to live in close proximity to the agency, go in person to hand in your photos. It might help to make a positive contact. While waiting for the agency to get in touch, you can use your time to practice walking on a catwalk, or to take some courses in styling and personal grooming. It is also highly recommended you engage in some sort of aerobic, dancing or any other body-shape activity.

If you're accepted by an agency (be aware that really serious modelling agencies don't accept just anyone) you will be sent to a professional photographer to work on your portfolio. Later on, your portfolio will include photos from all your professional work as a model. That's it. In the meantime The agency will send you to auditions and with a bit of luck you will start working soon!

Good luck to all of you!
