When a fashion editor or a commercial producer needs a model for a photo-shoot, they use the opportunity to pick the right model for the part by hosting a modelling audition.

In order to become a model one must have certain distinguishable traits in some cases for example: tall, beautiful, confident and highly motivated in other case the profile needed could be the opposite. (if you don't fit the profile needed for this type of modeling, It is highly unlikely to get accepted into a modelling agency which has specific criteria in the first place) Therefore every model has to tap into the niche which is compatibile to thier looks and physique. Though Generally most Modelling Agencies would tend to select young, slender, beautiful or handsome candidates. There is a wide variety of Angencies for Plus sizes,Teens etc. Hence know your worth, be realistic and persue the type of agencies suitable to you.

A modelling audition will determine which model is most appropriate for the specific part. If you're invited to attend a modelling audition, make sure you know as many details regarding the company and the judges who are hosting the audition. Check out previous catalogues or TV commercials produced in the past so you'll know what's expected of you.

In a modelling audition you'll be asked to present your modelling portfolio but you'll also be asked to present yourself before the judges. In a modelling audition you might be asked to try on an outfit (sometimes even a swimsuit), you might be asked to play a small part (if the modelling audition is for a TV commercial) and they might even ask you to sing and dance. When arriving at an audition, always be prepared for a long day. Make sure you have a good night's sleep the night before and that you're looking and feeling your best!

Remember: today's models are not just pretty faces. All models are pretty, so in order to pass the modelling audition you must demonstrate exceptional talent that will allow you to stand out from the crowd. A modelling audition is your opportunity to make a good impression on the judges and even if you don't get the job you never know when you'll meet them again, afterall there's nothing like entering a modelling audition and seeing friendly faces in the crowd.
